Thursday before last we heard a rather loud mewing sound coming from our (messy) carport.

Rather like a kitten had been left there for whatever reason.

My mom was rather concerned what with the coyotes we have in our neighbourhood and the cold weather that's already starting to make its presence known (today's forecast indicated a wind-chill factor of around -15°C, so cold is the order of the day around here), so she wanted to catch this kitten as quickly as we possibly could.

We/she started by putting out some canned food out for it and talking to it, hoping it would get used to us enough to let us capture it.

This last Tuesday evening, we had success.
(the fishing net helped, apparently)

For several days we've had the kitten in a largish cardboard box in the utility room downstairs, keeping it in isolation in an attempt to keep anything it might have away from our current pets.

Today, we finally brought the box upstairs and let it into a small part of the kitchen floor to play.
(previous to this, some of us have petted the kitten while it was in the box, and have even held it a little bit)

It does seem to have gotten fairly used to us, but it does dash under the nearest object when startled, a reaction left over from the few days it was in the carport.

We are currently assuming that it's female, and one suggested name was Muffy (from the Shoe cartoon's Muffy Hollandaise), but my brother and I don't think that it fits.
(the current counter-suggestion is Star, due to a patch on its neck, but I'm not sure about that one either)

Naming our dog was pretty easy, especially when mom had been accidentally calling her Rose even before we brought her home. Naming our first two cats was a little more difficult, but Callie and Colby were chosen, and seem to fit. But I'm rather unsure of what name would fit this little ball of fur and energy...

Incidentally, the first version of my Tetris game is available upon request.
(this is so my real name doesn't get directly associated with my fursona, I'm not quite ready for that to happen yet)

The controls are quite simple:
Left/right: Move the block sideways.
Down/space Drop the block.
Up: When held, keeps the block from falling, when tapped, drops the block one unit down.
1/3 Rotates the block counter-clockwise or clockwise, respectively.
P Pause the game.
N Start a new game.
Escape Quit.

Be warned when starting the game for the first time, as it jumps right into playing without warning, so consider this your warning!

WARNING: There are two currently-known bugs, and they might be related, I'm not sure.
#1: Don't press the New game button too quickly, or the game will crash and you'll need to kill it some other way.
#2: The Windows version (the only version currently available) doesn't always seem to like starting up, and sometimes crashes like above, so if a window for it does not show up within about five seconds, you'll probably need to kill it with the Windows Task Manager.

I'm currently calling it Simple Tetris, and don't plan on changing the name, but I do need a suggestion for a name for my second version with all the power-ups and stuff...

If you'd like a copy, leave a way to contact you (preferably electronically) so I'm not putting links to it in public places.
(once you get a copy, you can send it to friends and family as you like, but I'd like to know who so I know how popular it might be)
