There are a number of movies my family likes watching every year around Christmas time.

The two we watch almost every year are Holiday Inn and White Christmas, both with Bing Crosby, and both have fairly similar storylines, as White Christmas is actually a remake of Holiday Inn.

So here, in no particular order, is my list of movies I'd like to watch this Christmas season:Read more... )

You guys might find it revealing if I list a bunch of movies I'd like to own:
  • The Incredibles
  • Wall-E
  • Kung-Fu Panda
  • Cats the musical (the Commemorative Edition would be fine)
  • Anything by Wayne and Schuster
  • Flushed Away (mostly for the singing slugs)
  • Monsters vs Aliens (I haven't seen it yet, though I'm interested)

There's more, but I don't remember much else right now.

Speaking of movies, I found this piece of artwork by Jolly Jack (of Collected Curios fame):

Easily Amused

It had several links to YouTube videos in which video clips from BBC's Natural History unit were transformed into incredibly hilarious clips:
Night-time/day-time
Ant alarm
Walk on the wild-side Alan
Funny Talking Animals
(the last one listed by JJ is country-locked so I can't see it, but I'm sure it's funny)

I was in London Drugs yesterday and saw trailers for a couple of cool new movies coming out next year:
(information is taken from available trailers, not the descriptions on Apple's trailers site)

Despicable Me:
The Great Pyramid of Giza has been stolen and replaced with a gigantic inflatable replica by some despicable mastermind. All the world tries to protect their own national landmarks.

Planet 51:
An astronaut from Earth lands on a planet previously thought to be uninhabited, with hilarious results.
(think of all the movies about an alien landing on Earth and hiding out in somebody's house, but reverse the roles of the alien and earthling)

And I found this last one when browsing YouTube:

Toy Story 3:
Story unknown. Looks like Buzz managed to get some of his sign technology working, though...

There was a TV series that I'd love to have on DVD, all six episodes.

Police Squad was a hilarious cop show spoof that had sight gags and all sorts of other comedy in it (or, at least the two I found on YouTube were hilarious).

I found two episodes on YouTube, in addition to the ad spoofs for Red Rock Cider ("It's not red, and there's no rocks in it."), so here are links to the clips I've found that make a complete episode along with the ads.

The first episode:

(warning: for some peculiar reason, the last part is flagged as Mature, so you need an account to view it)

The second episode:

The two ads:

On an entirely different note, I'm currently writing this with my keyboard on my lap due to the fact that the fasteners holding my keyboard tray to my desk are pretty much toast, so I'll need to get more from Ikea next time I'm in the area.

I ran across this string of clips from an episode of The Muppet Show starring (unintentionally) some of the major stars from Star Wars.

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3

The end is particularly hilarious as Luke Skywalker and Mark Hamil both appear onstage at the end of the show at the same time!

And if you like Fozzie and music, how about Fozzie and Rowlf on the piano!
