I think back in time, to around the late '40s, early '50s, back when the old TV show "What's My Line?" was on, so I could watch them in colour.

I really prefer the old game shows the best, as they showcased people's personalities, back when the actually had personalities that weren't entirely fake.

All around, a much kinder, simpler time.
The only thing I'd miss is my computer and cell phone...

Definitely back in time, even if I wasn't able to invent all the technological creature comforts that I enjoy now. The further into the future the more crowded cities are, the greater the cost of living, the less employment there is, the shorter everything is in supply.

The decision would also depend on what I'd be able to take back with me; whether I could bring computers back to reverse-engineer, blueprints, or even just a history of stock market prices.

My answer depends on whether I come to stay or just visit briefly. And, of course, on how backward time travel handles potential paradoxes. By default, I suppose I'd go forward to have the satisfaction of knowing which contemporary predictions were correct. OTOH, heading to the time and place of an alleged miracle could settle some of my doubts....
