I can't seem to get to sleep for some reason, so I thought I may as well list a bunch of the webcomics that have ended or gone on lengthy hiatus that I've read and enjoyed.

In no particular order:
  • A Doemain of Our Own:
Kind of the story (plus more) of Susan Rankin's life. Ended due to her lack of interest in continuing the story further than a solid start in her new life, and the interminable questions about the "death" of Eric.
  • Buck Godot, Zap Gun for Hire:
Essentially a space mercenary living in New Hong Kong (where the only rule is that there are no rules in New Hong Kong), that prefers to spend his time drinking Ion Suckers, but gets conned into jobs every once in a while. Very entertaining comic done by the people who brought you Girl Genius
  • A Miracle of Science:
A world where Mad Science is a memetic disorder and there's an entire police force involved with tracking victims down. The group-mind of Mars also makes an appearance.
  • Suburban Jungle Classic:
The completed story of Tiffany Tiger, Leonard Lion, Leona Lioness, Dover Cheetah, and all the rest of the gang at the Watering Hole (and its sub-let, the Watering Hole-in-the-Wall), and the adventures (and misadventures).
  • What's New? with Phil and Dixie:
Another quality comic by the same people that brought you Buck Godot and Girl Genius, Phil and Dixie take you through the world of board and card games where almost anything can happen.
  • This I.S. Life:
The life of a young, knowledgeable techie and his struggles with his co-workers. The art may not be the best, but you just know that he was in the business because the jokes are almost always spot-on.
  • Dansk Folly:
A bunch of university students sharing the Dansk Folly apartments. It seems to have ended due to the author losing the passwords to the website and not bothering to recover them. A real pity, as it was just getting good when it ended...
  • Better Days: Warning! Not Safe For Work or Hortmage!
A pair of kittens and their single mother as they grow up into a fine young man and woman, despite their initial status as latchkey kids. Fisk goes on to follow in his late father's footsteps in defending his country in a number of ways, while Lucy becomes a happy wife to a successful engineer, and even straightens out some of her friends' lives too.

Inspired by my entry, perhaps? Too bad there's no crossover between our lists.

I trust you're aware that "Better Days" has an ongoing sequel, "Original Life." The writing's gotten good lately.

By sheer coincidence, I found this post while looking to see if there was a recent post to the SJ LJ community. Gneech's father just passed away a few days ago, but I'd wondered if there'd been a note about today's NeverNever and its dedication to his memory.

I just want to say how touched I was to see Doemain on your list. It's another nudge telling me that I really ought to do SOMEthing with it again, even if just as a periodic comic book.

Thank you for the mental boost. As NN is coming ever closer to its end, I need all the motivation I can get.
