First snow of the season

And it seems that the first snow is going to be here for a bit.
The forecast is for more snow on Tuesday and maybe some on Wednesday, though it may turn to rain late Wednesday/early Thursday.
I'm not really concerned with how slippery it may be, as I've had well over eight years of experience pulling a cart full of papers on slick ice, so I'm pretty good at it.
What I'm more concerned with is keeping the papers dry as I deliver them.
The issue in this case is that snow can pile up much more easily than rain can, and so can make even bigger wet spots than a simple rainshower can.
I kind of need to get a tarpaulin and fold it up into a box-like thing to put the papers in while I'm delivering them.
There ought to be at least one way to fold it in such a way so that it's easy to open, but still keeps rain and snow out.
...I'd never expected the snow to hit so early or suddenly...

Date: 2010-11-22 10:02 am (UTC)I guess I'll have to rely on having hot chocolate more often.
Good thing there are Tim Horton's on or near each campus...
(I don't drink tea or coffee just yet. We'll see what happens when I finally get a real job)

Date: 2010-11-22 09:49 am (UTC)It's just a fairly small city paper, so the papers are bundled up into bundles of around twenty papers a bundle, less when the papers are thicker.
(and around this time of year, everybody's running Christmas ads, so the papers are perpetually thick)
I'm currently relegated to use a pair of garbage bags to protect the papers in wet weather, and it works fairly well if it's not too windy.
(though I need to replace them soon, they're starting to get holes in them)

Date: 2010-11-23 08:33 pm (UTC)(that sort of thing is reserved for the bigger papers such as The Vancouver Sun and The Province)
At present, the papers are delivered to me in bundles tied with plastic straps, usually around twenty papers to a bundle.
(though with the number of flyers we've been getting, it's down around sixteen to a bundle, and I'm quite sure each paper weighs a pound or so)
