Just for fun I took the model of the Savage Chicken I created and enabled on of Blender's mesh modifiers called the Subsurface modifier.
This basically smooths the mesh, but leaving it unchanged so you can still alter the original.
It's now the "control" mesh, if you will.

Enough talk, let's see what it looks like!

Yeah, I remember using the subsurface modifier in blender when I did some of my own modelling way back when. It makes for some very nice smoothing. However, it also jumps the polygon count WAAAYYY high, so it's not suitable for making models to be used in games.
