Well, seeing Rolf Harris at the PNE was totally worth it!

Having never seen him in person before, and because of that, having never seen him perform "Jake the Peg" before (which he opened with, wearing his "third leg"), I was greatly entertained.

Aside from "Jake the Peg", he also performed "Tie Me Kangaroo Down", "Six White Boomers", "Sun Arise", "Two Little Boys", and for his closing number, he did "Vancouver Town", updated as usual for the current happenings, including comments about the controversial HST, the new Canada Line, and how Canadians figured out how to make snow when we didn't have any for the Winter Olympics.
(I'm sure I missed a few in there)

He also pointed out that "Tie Me Kangaroo Down" has been translated into 19 languages, including Dutch, German, Spanish, and Country and Western.
(instead of being about tying a kangaroo down to avoid him running amok, he's supposed to tie up the guy's hunting dog so the dog won't try to go into town)

Apparently, he'd watch one of his songs climb one of the popularity charts from seventeenth all the way up to second, but just when it should have reached the top spot, some twit named Elvis Presley jumped straight to the top with a song called "Return to Sender"...

Aside from Rolf Harris, there's quite a bit to see and do at the PNE, everything from food (of which there was lots of) to watching the logging show, going on the rides (which you have to pay extra to get into, and I'm not that interested, so I leave it alone), viewing the sand castle contest entries, and visiting any of a large number booths, including the usual Canadian Forces booth that's there every year.

There's also a number of street entertainers that varies every year.
This year there was somebody calling himself Mr. Robb that was great fun to watch.
Never saying a word, he'd wave in a child from the crowd and get them to help him with his act, always with hilarious results.

A quick word about food and such.
Whenever I have the chance, I always pick up some of Those Little Doughnuts, and always with cinnamon sugar instead of plain. It's just not the PNE with some of them. (hence my interest in having a mini doughnut machine)
I also usually have Buckeye Root Beer, as they're the largest sizes you can get while still being fairly cheap for the size.
Aside from these, I usually wander around checking out other food vendors to see what there is and what I'm hungry for.
This year I had a "B.C. Dog", a hot dog with cheese and bacon. Unfortunately there were no condiments, and the bacon wasn't cooked quite long enough to be crunchy (which would have helped), though the weiner was pretty hefty as compared with what you usually get as a hot dog.
