Some good news...

Even before the first rehearsal, we already had the rack cards to advertise this year’s panto, about ten thousand of them.
I've already nabbed a small stack of about three dozen, dropping some off at the shoe store where I bought my panto shoes this year, and the rest at work.

Oh yeah, when I dropped the cards off at the quilting store I used to work at, the boss said “Oh, I was going to call you.”
You know something good is going to happen when he says that! =^.^=
Anyway, long story short (well, long visit short, anyway!) I get to go back and work there again!
For the moment, I’ll be working four hours on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and full days on Fridays, gradually increasing as the number of sewing machines going through ramps up for Christmas.

Woohoo! I get to work again! =^.^=

Anyway, it’s going to be less about servicing machines and more about organizing the parts, as he’d noticed how well I’d been doing tracking down part numbers and such.

Life status

Hmm, I've been ignoring this again, I see...

Right now I'm still delivering newspapers, but I've also picked up another job that I do on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for a whole lot of extra income.

I'm doing door-to-door lawn aeration, and it's a very interesting, if demanding, job.
When we attended the information session about it we were told that the work isn't for everybody, and I definitely believe them.Details under here )

So, on the whole, I'm a bit more comfortable with myself now, but it seems to have come at the expense of some of my health.

Some good news for a change...

I tentatively have a job for the summer.

It's with an odd company that does lawn aeration, window and pressure washing, and asphalt resealing during the summer months.
(can't exactly call them a "lawn care" company because they don't mow lawns)

They work on a day-by-day basis, and at the end of each day you can specify which day(s) you'd like to work next, so if you want or need to skip a day or two (or more), you'll still have a job when you come back.

They're also relatively new in BC, which would explain how I haven't heard of them before.

According to the information I got last night, workers can make anywhere from $100 to $500 a day for lawn aeration work, and more for window and pressure washing work.
There are also a large number of bonuses to encourage treating it more like a sport instead of a job.
(they've been doing this kind of thing for over ten years, so they know it actually works)

My first day will be on March 9th, then I'll probably need a day or two to recover before I can do another one.
(they have actually warned us that it's not for everybody, and if you're not used to it, it'll be hard work)

So, is it pride?

So, I'm on LinkedIn, and it has a job-suggestion system that's currently in beta testing right now.
Only thing is, every time I view its list of suggestions, the majority of positions are for senior-level postings.

I'd commented on my Facebook account, wondering why, especially with my distinct lack of industry experience.

One of my classmates had this to say:

"Why demerit yourself? Perhaps you are qualified for these senior-level job.... Or quite possibly overqualified for these jobs."

I responded by saying that I'd rather work my way up from a lower position, proving myself worthy of it, rather than starting at a higher level and finding myself unsuited to it.

My question for you guys here is this: Is this a form of pride?
Should I be thinking this way?

Proverbs 25:6,7 says that you should not exalt yourself of the king (or, in fact, anyone in a position of power), and it is better for you to be promoted than demoted.

Anybody have any comments on this?
