Again?

Well, it seems I used my debit card at a compromised location again, as it seems to have been deactivated again.

This is the second time it has happened, and I'm not happy with the bank's policy of not calling until their next business day.
(most branches happen to be closed on Mondays, making it difficult to get a new card)

What made this worse is that I was depending on using my debit card to buy lunch.
This meant I had to wait until I got home to eat anything, and was very hungry by the time I got back.
(I'd wanted to eat out, but haven't yet learned to have a stash of mad money)

Ah well, I'll stop by the bank tomorrow and get it looked into.
I'll then have a temporary bank card until they mail me another one.

Boy this is annoying...

Criminy. Perhaps it's just as well that I always use cash or credit, except for high amounts that call for checks.

You might have the same problem with a credit card, though without the benefits of the Interac Zero Liability Policy.

Basically, it guarantees that you will not lose any money that was withdrawn from your account as the result of your card getting stolen or compromised.

Oddly enough, it turns out that my card was deactivated by mistake.
The new one should be arriving in about a week or so.

I've been introduced to the concept of "Mad Money", where you have some money tucked away in your wallet for instances where either you get mad at somebody or somebody gets mad at you and you need that little bit extra money to get out of a tight situation.
(for example, you get mad at the person who gave you a ride to the restaurant and need some money to get home)

Next paycheck I'm going to do just that and hope I forget about it enough I won't create issues on my own...

As for keeping food in my bag, I usually take some lunch with me, but wanted to buy lunch that day.
I should probably get in the habit of keeping several granola bars in my bag, but apparently I get too hungry some days and keep running out...

Apparently I don't always get enough of it...

Oh, and it seems as though my bank card was deactivated by accident.

There were no notes on my account since the last time this happened, and I've received no phone calls saying anything about what may have happened.
The last transaction is from at least a week ago, at a Tim Horton's in Vancouver, in the same building I'm taking one of my classes, so that wouldn't be it.

The new card should arrive in a week or so.
